Hugo says his Great Grandpa has no trouble keeping up outside when he rides his 3 wheel scooter. As a matter of fact, sometimes he's too fast and is slightly accident prone. Using a site like mobility compare might be a good idea next time he's buying a scooter so he gets one that is stable on rough ground because at 96 G-Grandpa is still a 'going-concern'.

G-Grandpa went over backward on his scooter when it was new and the seat was too far back and he was going up an incline. A plane flew over, G-Grandpa looked up and over he went. Luckily there was a grassy place where his head hit as he slid sideways and backwards off the scooter.

It wasn't easy getting the scooter upright. G-Grandpa was fine and was back on his feet in a minute and he and Grandma Heather lifted the scooter back onto it's wheels, adjusted the seat and he was back in business (with a lesson learned).

My Valentine Hugo

Hugo is my little Valentine! Someone said to me he looks like an airplane with this propellor type chew toy in his mouth. He's a darling little dog and is the best company in the world - most of the time...

Does everyone have trouble getting their dogs to take pills? Sentinel has a meat-like treat with heartworm medicine and I'm hoping Hugo will fall for that so I don't have to go through the trauma of forcing a pill down his throat.

Hugo acts like I'm trying to poison him when I make him take a tiny little pill wrapped in a treat. He eats the treat and spits out the pill, along with some attitude. So then, I have to hold him, pry his jaw open & drop the pill down his throat. Once it's in his throat I hold his mouth closed and stroke his throat until he swallows. Sometimes he tricks me though and the pill doesn't go down. All this unusual action makes him afraid and anxious and makes me feel guilty. He's pretty smart and doesn't usually fall for my tricks!

If you've ever tried to give your squirmy dog or cat a pill you will know what I mean. This sweet little, 22 pound Boston Terrier becomes an 85 pound monster who refuses to let me open his jaw. It usually takes two of us to manage him if he doesn't want to cooperate and I feel like I'm torturing him - lol.

Of course he gets lots of attention and a few treats when we finally get the job done but we're all traumatized by the action. Yep, he has me wrapped around his little paw.

Hugo Says, "Accidents do happen and I guarantee your new puppy WILL pee on the floor! Be prepared, and follow this quick tip to help save your carpets and your sanity."

Meeting your new puppy is an exciting time, but is likely to be stressful for you and the pup. Keep in mind the pup most likely has lived with his parent and siblings in an area where he eats, sleeps, plays and 'does his business.' Your job as his new owner is to train him to 'do his business' in an acceptable manner in your home.

One simple but very effective tip to help you both with this transition period is to ask the breeder, a few days ahead of your pickup date, to put a newspaper in the puppy's play area.

By bringing home the newspaper which already has the puppy urine smell, it will make training your pup much easier.

Be sure you have a supply of puppy pads on hand and put one in the area where you and your pup will be spending play time. Put a sheet of the newspaper right on top of the puppy pad and your pup will immediately be attracted to that spot which already smells correct to him. Remember - it must be very close to the play area because when you gotta go, you gotta go!

Your pup will be naturally drawn to the smell of urine on the newspaper & will know where to pee immediately. He will run to that spot if it's close enough. You will have to replace the newspaper but that is simply done by dampening a clean piece of newspaper in your puppy's urine.

Every two or three days, move the placement of the puppy pad further away from your living area towards the door to the outside where he will ultimately 'do his business.'

Praise, treats and consistency in action and words will help your new best friend do his utmost to please you!

Hugo Goes Clam Digging

Hugo loves digging for clams and picking up oysters on the beach. He actually chews at the shells until they pop open and he slurps up the fruit of his labor!

I remember the sweet, new puppy smell of Teddy Bear Hugo. He was the most adorable pup in the world and stole my heart.

Hugo is nearly 4 years old now and my best friend. I would be lost without him, but sometimes I wish he would just GET LOST! He loves to go play on the beach, dig in the mud, rocks and even the salt water to find oysters and clams. He carries them up to the grass, chews until he cracks the shells apart then slurps up the yummy, RAW, 'delicacy'. I prefer mine with no bits of shell, washed with clean fresh water, battered, breaded and fried beyond recognition! But, not Hugo - the smellier, saltier and grosser, the better he likes it.

Does your dog suffer from itching? Does he scratch continually and sometimes stink beyond belief? I have to tell you Hugo does, especially after being in the saltwater and he hates bathtime, making me feel guilty about his suffering. Hugo Loves Boating

5 of us went oyster picking and clam digging yesterday. Just as we were about to untie and leave the dock, Hugo jumped right in the boat. There was no way he was going to be left behind!

He's so darn cute and everyone loves him so much, no one had the heart to tell him to get back on the float. He enjoyed every minute of his boat ride and digging clams on the beach.

This new ball is bigger than Hugo!

Hugo dragged this hard plastic buoy off the beach where it had settled on high tide. It was full of huge rotting mussels. When I realized Hugo was starting to smell like a gigantic rotting mussel from chewing on them, I took it away from him and put him in the bathtub. Couldn't get that nasty smell off his face and his breath was terrible for 3 days.

I think he's forgotten about now and is back to chewing sticks and picking up oysters on the beach to gnaw on!

Sylvester is a mild mannered cat, usually!

I was sitting outside taking photos of Hugo playing in the grass with his a piece of rope he found under the porch. Sylvester came outside and jumped up beside me, wanting attention. He has long fur and sheds so I didn't let him sit on my lap but started snapping shots of him because he had the sun on his face and was looking so darn cute.

After a few shots where he squinted his eyes, I finally captured him telling me he wanted my FULL attention NOW!

BUTTONS: The New Toilet Cleaner

Hugo Says, "This is simply too much of a time saver not to share".

1. Put both lids of the toilet up and add 1/8 cup of pet shampoo to the water in the bowl.

2. Pick up Buttons, the cat and soothe her while you carry her to the bathroom.

3. In one smooth movement, put Buttons in the toilet and close both lids. You may need to stand on the lid.

4. Buttons will self agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from the toilet, Buttons is actually enjoying this.

5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a 'power-wash' and 'rinse'.

6. Have some one open the front door of your home. Be sure there are no people between the bathroom and the front door.

7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can and quickly lift the lid.

8. Buttons will rocket out of the toilet, streak through the bathroom and run outside where she will dry herself off.

9. Both the toilet and Buttons will be sparkling clean.

The Grandma Test

I was out walking with my Grand daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that.

'Why?' my Granddaughter asked.

'Because it's been on the ground; you don't know where it's been, it's dirty, and probably has germs,' I replied.

At this point, my Granddaughter looked at me with total admiration and asked,

'Grandma, how do you know all this stuff?? You are so smart.'

I was thinking quickly and said to her. 'All Grandmas know this stuff. ? It's on the Grandma Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Grandma."

We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information.

'Oh.....I get it!' she beamed, 'So if you don't pass the test you have to be the Grandpa".

Hugo, the Cover Dog

Hugo loves boating and regularly accompanies us aboard our 5288 Bayliner during the spring and summer boating season in Beautiful British Columbia.

In June 2008 we left Egmont aboard the Jervis Mist to attend the Bayliner Rendezvous at Roche Harbor in the San Juan Islands, Washington State. Kent likes to run the boat at 9 knots as it makes for a very comfortable ride while being fuel efficient. 9 knots is a comfortable travel speed but made for an eleven hour trip each way.

As we entered the Strait of Georgia after clearing Merry Island the wind was blowing South East 26 knots and the seas were ugly. We were comfortable enough as the Jervis Mist is well equipped to handle that much weather. As long as I'm able to blog and Hugo is able to nap we're happy little boaters - and Captain Kent loves to be at the helm.

Our friends Jack and Roberta were waiting for us in Point Roberts and once we loaded them aboard, we were off, heading for Roche Harbor where the Bayliner Rendezvous Luau was awaiting us. Many dealers were set up with information booths and we enjoyed chatting with them.

Hugo met many doggy friends on the docks and our walks, while we stopped along the way to speak to new boating friends and old. Many of the boats were decked out Hawaiian style and people were always ready to party with a Mai Tai while listening to Don Ho's 'Tiny Bubbles'.

Roche Harbor is an historic town with an interesting past and we enjoyed the retiring of the colors at dusk, accompanied by cannon fire and fireworks.

Dino Publishing was covering the event and the photographer snapped a few cute pics of Hugo, asking me to sign a release in case they chose to use Hugo's photo at a future time.

Today, the Editorial Director of Dino Publishing, Randy Hess, phoned to talk to Hugo, Kent and I, asking questions about our boating lifestyle, our trip to Roche Harbor, how we enjoyed the event and explained he was creating an article for Magalog, the February advertising issue for Bayliner and Maxxum, and that perhaps Hugo would be featured.

Who knows - perhaps Hugo will be a 'Cover Dog'!

Here is an excerpt from Dino Publishing's press release detailing the new Magalog for US Marine, the parent company of Bayliner and Maxxum:

Hugo is Looking For a New Home!

Hugo says he's tired of his puppy dog blogger house and needs a new home on his own domain, HugoSays.com, which will reflect his maturity now that he's a serious teenager. No more going 'gaga' over the girls!

Hugo sneezes and snorts, and his eyes water when Mowgley the cat is in the house. Mom says he's allergic to Mowgley, so why does she yell when he chases the cat outside? Hugo's Mom insists they live together and try to get along - and that's like mixing oil and water... Mom does a lot of yelling when Hugo puts the run on Mowgley, but that's okay - it's still fun to make the fat cat scat! Besides, dogs are supposed to chase cats.

Hugo says if he has to suffer with allergies, the cat needs to share the torture - and he's found a great answer. Mowgley is afraid of the vacuum cleaner and runs outside when it comes out of the closet. Not only does it scare away the cat, but it makes the house clean and dust free. Double duty is good! And Hugo doesn't get yelled at.

Someone has to do this difficult job of soaking in the heat and relaxing, while others work for a living!

See my friend Mikey? He's working hard at installing the canvas cover for the bridge so we can sit up top and relax - even when it's raining. Lucky someone works around here because my job is to look cool.

Last year I had a nice cushion on the bow but Grandpa seems to have forgotten about my comfort level and hasn't put it out yet for me to sit on. What's the hold up Grandpa? I'm ready for summer time fun in the sun!

Walkin' the Dyke

My Grandma and I walked to the marina this afternoon to meet the 'canvas guy' so he could work on the command bridge enclosure.

I was my usual cute self, posing for pictures, but it was boring so I started looking at the beach to see who was around. The happy yellow daffodils were glad to see me!

Grandma said to stand up on the concrete block so I could see over the edge

- and here's what I saw. It's a blue heron, fishing at the rivers edge for his lunch.

There were lots of birds flying overhead too and the geese were squawking. I think they wanted to play golf.

Here's what the 'canvas guy' is working on

This is the command bridge and you can see how it's all open at the front. It was like that all the way around. That meant everything got wet when it rained and we had to keep the seats all covered up, or they'd get dirty and moldy. We don't use the area unless it's sunny and hot - and there's only a month or two of that kind of weather - so Grandma had the brilliant idea of enclosing it - to make another 'room'.

The 'canvas guy', who's real name is Mikey, sewed and zippered a special fabric which attaches to the top 'bimini' and will keep out the wind and rain. You can see on the right hand side where part of it is in place. The 'windows' are made of a special heavy plastic which is clear as glass.

Grandma helped the 'canvas guy' get it zippered together today because it was so windy he was afraid he'd lose something overboard. I watched from the bow deck. After it was in place the 'canvas guy' attached snaps to the edges of the canvas and to the boat to hold it securely, but he had to take it off, and take it home to his scissors and sewing machine to do a few little tweaks here and there to make it fit perfectly! Grandma is a perfectionist you know so she wants it to fit as snugly and neatly as possible.

If it's not raining and windy tomorrow we'll meet him there so he can finish it. I like the 'canvas guy' and he likes me - especially my left eye which is partly blue.

He says I act like a teenager though. Is that good? Do I get a treat, huh? Huh, huh? Is this how cute you wanted me to look, Grandma?

Arrrrr... Where Ya Been Pirate Chicken?

OH, my ~~fried~~ friend, pirate chicken appeared today out of nowhere! Grandma and I were at the boat this morning and he wasn't there, then this afternoon when we went back to the boat again, he came out to play.

I love my pirate chicken. He's my best friend when I'm on the boat with Grandma and Grandpa. I haven't seen him for the longest time and I really missed him.

We had lunch together, but I don't think he enjoyed it quite as much as I! I hope he comes back again when his neck heals.

Hugo says he loves making new friends with people from all over the world, especially if they have treats for him. He and Grandma have met lots of friendly people, through IZEA.

Smellin' the Posies

Hugo says on his walk today with Grandma he smelled every posy
as they passed the golf course, along the way to the marina - and back. Well, they aren't really posies, but they are very pretty flowers.

Grandma gave Hugo a lesson in flower names, not that he needed or wanted to know, but Grandma's are like that and it annoyed Hugo a bit, so when Grandma stopped to talk to a stranger who had a big dog, he made a nuisance of himself until the other dog established who was the bigger boss. The big dog took offense and held Hugo to the ground until he said 'Uncle' just because Hugo was running in circles and trying to start a game of chase. Poor sport.

The ducks in the river were much more interesting, but they kept coming so close Hugo had to back up - and the swimgrid on the boat is slippery,
so it was best to just peek around the corner at them.

The canvas man came to work on the command bridge of the boat, so Hugo and Grandma hung out waiting for him to finish. It was warm and sunny, and napping was in order while Grandma and the canvas man worked.

Hugo says he has a busy life, smellin' all the posies, watching the ducks and napping.

Where'd My Doogle Go?

When I was a young pup I had one of those ~~Doogle~~, ~~Goggle~~, Google things... it was a little bar at the bottom of my page with the number 3 on it.

Grandma said it made me a doggone good dog. But then, I got rankspanked and it went away - poof, it disappeared one night and we couldn't find it anywhere. Grandma still loves me though, cause I am a good dog most of the time, although I do bark a lot and get yelled at all the time. I know Grandma will always love me as long as I don't chew her shoes!

Anyway, nuff bout me huh? Back to the Boggle thingy. We kept on blogging and found we don't need that number anyway to be a real cool ~~dog~~ blog.

... our friends at IZEA sent us some really cool St. Patrick's Day
gifts in a Postie Pack!

Grandma opened the box to find stickers, candy, green necklaces, bubbles, a ball and a fortune cookie which said 'Irish For a Day'.

Here is a picture of me with some of the St. Swag!

We dressed up and I posed inside.

We did a head shot, we did a close-up and we did a portrait.

Grandma annoyed me when she blew bubbles at me and I had to
walk away so I didn't say swears at her.

Once I got the green bubble container out of Grandma's hands I showed her how to play with bubbles. I chewed at the nice green plastic bottle until the four leaf clover came off, then I popped off the top.

Grandma videoed me so I acted up a bit to impress everyone! Can you hear her puffing in the background - she couldn't keep up to me... she needs to go for a walk every day with me.

When I got tired of teasing her I drank the bubbles. Ha! Grandma can't blow them at me now... I foamed at the mouth a bit and they tasted yucky, so I didn't want to play that game anymore. My tummy is rumbly and it's nap time after all that exercise.

... my Mommy brought home these two beautiful white Swans from Florida!

I got pretty excited when I saw them, and I jumped up so fast Grandma only got this blurry picture of me licking my chops in anticipation of ~~chasing~~ playing with them. I thought they were my new friends and would like to play tag, but they didn't do anything - they ignored me! Grandma says they are a picture and can't play... that's sad.

Here's a better picture of me with my perky ears! Grandma says I'm a picture too but I play, so what's wrong with the swans?

Hugo loves oysters and has a nose for good food.

When he's at the beach, he wades into the knee deep water and dives his nose into the salty cold water to reach the oysters. He runs up onto the grass and lays in the sun - always keeping one eye on his Grandpa in case he wants a bite too.

Chewing on the sharp, crunchy shell keeps him busy for hours and when he finally cracks it open there's nothing more satisfying than to eat the yummy morsel which was hidden inside.

Hugo says his Grandma and Grandpa always remind him to "Be Oyster Aware". A doggy and his family must know when the oysters are safe to eat and where to pick them so they are not contaminated. Vibrio Vulnificus is a very serious illness associated with eating raw oysters and may be deadly to some people - and dogs.

Gulf oysters may be 'post harvest processed' making them absolutely safe for even 'at-risk' consumers. Be informed, be cautious, be smart and be sure to 'Be Oyster Aware'.

... several years ago a woman found a sick, malnourished lion cub in the jungle. She took the cub home and fed him and raised him until he was too big to keep anymore. She made arrangements with a zoo in Colombia to take the lion.

... I'm a bit sad today...my Mommy isn't here and I think I miss her.

I've played with all my toys, ran up and down the stairs and even gone for a walk with Grandpa. I almost chased Sylvester, but Grandma yelled at me and the cat ran away and I had to sit on my mat.

Grandma told me Mommy's gone on a 'cation and said something about a beach. I wanted to go play on the beach with my Mommy, but Grandma said I couldn't.

If you see my Mommy on the beach, tell her I want to play on the beach too, okay? I think I love my Mommy almost as much as I love my red and black rings!

No matter the sport in which you are taking part, you must always be well equipped and prepared for the hazards Mother Nature may send your way. Cat's don't like the water, so this boy probably isn't going kayaking. He looks awfully undignified don't you think?

Now, if I was going kayaking with my Grandpa I'd like one of these sweet helmets.

Dogs do like the water you know and I'd look cool in this racy red helmet. Red is one of my better colors! Next time Grandpa goes kayaking, I'm sitting on the bow to be the lookout in my new kayaking helmet.

This helmet will give me all the coverage my nose and jaw require and it's made with 'super impact' ABS to absorb heavy shocks or impacts. It's lightweight and well ventilated and provides the ability to communicate easily - so Grandpa would certainly hear my warning bark if I saw a hazard.

I'd put the run on anything in our way, with this mean lookin' gear and no one would mess with us! The birds and seals and logs and rocks better look out - in my 'pinion!

Hmmmm... perhaps Grandpa might need to buy a 2 person kayak, so there is room for ME, inside the boat. Sitting on the bow might be dangerous - not to mention uncomfortable. I wonder if the Kayak Shed makes a water dam to fit doggies?

"Lizard Birth"

If you have raised kids (or been one), and gone through
the pet syndrome, including toilet flush burials for dead
goldfish, the story below will have you laughing out
LOUD!

Overview: I had to take my son's lizard to the vet.

Here's what happened:

Just after dinner one night, my son came up to tell me
there was "something wrong" with one of the two
lizards he holds prisoner in his room.

"He's just lying there looking sick," he told me. "I'm
serious, Dad. Can you help?"

I put my best lizard-healer expression on my face and
followed him into his bedroom. One of the little lizards
was indeed lying on his back, looking stressed. I
immediately knew what to do.

"Honey," I called, "come look at the lizard!"

"Oh, my gosh!" my wife exclaimed. "She's having
babies."

"What?" my son demanded. "But their names are
Bert and Ernie, Mom!"

I was equally outraged.

"Hey, how can that be? I thought we said we didn't
want them to reproduce," I said accusingly to my wife.

"Well, what do you want me to do, post a sign in their
cage?" she inquired (I think she actually said this
sarcastically!)

"No, but you were supposed to get two boys!" I
reminded her, (in my most loving, calm, sweet
voice, while gritting my teeth).

"Yeah, Bert and Ernie!" my son agreed.

"Well, it's just a little hard to tell on some guys, you
know," she informed me (Again with the sarcasm!).

By now the rest of the family had gathered to see
what was going on. I shrugged, deciding to make
the best of it.

"Kids, this is going to be a wondrous experience,"
I announced. "We're about to witness the miracle
of birth."

"Oh, gross!" they shrieked

"Well, isn't THAT just great? What are we going to do
with a litter of tiny little lizard babies?" my wife wanted
to know.

We peered at the patient. After much struggling, what
looked like a tiny foot would appear briefly, vanishing
a scant second later.

"We don't appear to be making much progress," I
noted.

"It's breech," my wife whispered, horrified.

"Do something, Dad!" my son urged.

"Okay, okay." Squeamishly, I reached in and grabbed
the foot when it next appeared, giving it a gentle tug.
It disappeared. I tried several more times with the
same results.

"Should I call 911?" my eldest daughter wanted to know.

"Maybe they could talk us through the trauma." (You
see a pattern here with the females in my house?)

"Let's get Ernie to the vet," I said grimly. We drove to
the vet with my son holding the cage in his lap.

"Breathe, Ernie, breathe," he urged.

"I don't think lizards do Lamaze," his mother noted to
him. (Women can be so cruel to their own young. I
mean what she does to me is one thing, but this boy
is of her womb, for G~d's sake.).

The vet took Ernie back to the examining room and
peered at the little animal through a magnifying glass.

"What do you think, Doc, a C-section?" I suggested
scientifically.

"Oh, very interesting," he murmured. "Mr. and Mrs.
Cameron, may I speak to you privately for a moment?"

I gulped, nodding for my son to step outside.

"Is Ernie going to be okay?" my wife asked.

"Oh, perfectly," the vet assured us. "This lizard is not
in labor. In fact, that isn't EVER going to happen. .
Ernie is a boy. You see, Ernie is a young male. And
occasionally, as they come into maturity, like most
male species, they um . . um . . . masturbate. Just
the way he did, lying on his back." He blushed,
glancing at my wife.

We were silent, absorbing this.

"So, Ernie's just . just . . excited," my wife offered.

"Exactly," the vet replied , relieved that we understood.

More silence. Then my vicious, cruel wife started to
giggle. And giggle. And then even laugh loudly.

"What's so funny?" I demanded, knowing, but not
believing that the woman I married would commit
the upcoming affront to my flawless manliness.

Tears were now running down her face. "It's just .that . .
I'm picturing you pulling on its . . . its. . . teeny little . . "
She gasped for more air to bellow in laughter once
more.

"That's enough," I warned. We thanked the vet and
hurriedly bundled the lizard and our son back into
the car.. He was glad everything was going to be okay.

"I know Ernie's really thankful for what you did, Dad,"
he told me.

"Oh, you have NO idea," my wife agreed, collapsing
with laughter.

Two lizards: $140.

One cage: $50.

Trip to the vet: $30.

Priceless!

Moral of the story: Pay attention in biology class.

I found this really yummy piece of carpet to chew and pull and it feels good on my teeth. It fights back but I win if I pull hard enough. Then I have to spit out the staples and bits of fluff.

Grandpa says I'm a bad boy because I'm ruining the corner of the carpet on the stairs. Well, I didn't know it mattered that much and now I'm in the dog house. Grandpa won't even talk to me except to say 'Bad Dog', Mommy is not home and Grandma is blogging.

The First Snowfall

Hugo and Grandma went out last night to play in the snow. There was 3 inches and it was very wet and slippery. Hugo loved it and chased himself and snowballs until he was exhausted.

This morning he saw the big black snow shovel Grandpa used to clean the entryway and growled and barked at it until Grandma showed him it was a friend. Hugo is very protective of his home and family!

Dontcha love my green flashing chew toy? My humans buy me the coolest stuff. When I pick up this black and green barbell and drop it on the floor, it starts flashing and makes me get all excited. You can see it in my eyes - I'm having fun playing at Grandma's house today!

My Mommy is working tomorrow and the next day and she thought Grandma and I could keep each other company. I like staying with Grandma - she lets me sleep on the bed - and under the covers too when I get cold in the middle of the night. Hehhehhehh... I sure trained her well, didn't I?

Hugo says his Grandma is at the PostieCon Convention in Las Vegas and listening to a panel of advertisers discussing what they want and expect from Posties when they post an opportunity.

Grandma told me it's an eye opener and great to hear what major advertisers want and look for. The Car Guy Garage guys are on the panel and have the most awesome T-shirts as give aways. The shirts are compressed and enclosed in a 'car' shaped package - CUTE!

Drew and Grandma both caught one - well, actually Drew caught hers too when she fumbled it!

Those Garage Guys are cool for bringing along such unique gifts for the posties!

Hugo's Mixer Mystery

Hugo says, "Grandma and I are going to make doggie cookies!" We make them every year - Grandma says it's a tradition! Well, it's only a 1 year old tradition since I am ONLY one year old, but a tradition has to start somewhere.

So, Grandma went to her cupboard this morning to get out the old 1970's hand mixer and the cupboard was bare! She found the pancake griddle, the blender, the corkscrew and the potato masher... but no mixer. Who stole the mixer? Where'd it go? How can we make doggie bone shaped cookies? It's a mystery! Please help me solve the mystery so I can have cookies...

Okay, the last time she saw the mixer was... ummmmm.... in February 2006 when she made a birthday cake for her friend. Then it disappeared. It is nowhere in the house - and I know because I have a good nose to sniff out anything associated with food. Grandma has searched every cupboard and corner of the kitchen.

Wait now, did we take it somewhere? Where could we have taken it? Can you guess? Maybe she had to take it with her when she went somewhere and it was left behind. Come on now, guess where it could be - Hugo will send you a fabulous prize if you figure it out!!! In Hugo's 'pinion Grandma needs a Hamilton Beach® Mixer which is big enough so it won't go missing! She has lots of empty space on her counter and it would look nice sitting there ready to make cookies and cakes and bread. Oh, Hugo says he's hungry!

Grandma puts a picture of a Hamilton Beach® Stand Mixer on her fridge every year just before Christmas hoping Grandpa will buy her one, but it never shows up under the tree. Maybe this year...

Hugo says his crazy family dressed up like pirates last night and partied. His Mom and Dad bought him a cool pirate bandana so he could be just like the grown-ups and play his part - as a dastardly dograte! Here's his Mom, Dad and friends Morgan, Trevor and Dave.

And, his beauteous Mommy and Morgan - arrrrrr... they're hot wenches!

Hugo stayed home to cat sit while the pirates raided the local establishment to drink the grog and carouse.

... when Grandpa was a young ~~pup~~ man a quarter was worth only a penny - a smashed, squished, flattened, elongated souvenir penny from a penny machine.

Grandma still has that penny (and she had to hunt for a long time to find it). Actually it wasn't the one she remembered Grandpa and Sean making in the early 1980's in Miami, but one she made at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The old style penny machines, which are so much fun, have to be hand cranked to flatten the penny and you really feel like you accomplished something when your cool oval shaped souvenir penny tumbles out at the end. The space shuttle shape machine Grandma used was cool - imagine yourself in a space shuttle orbiting the earth, cranking the handle, watching your penny squish - ooooh, you'd feel like Mighty Dog!

Hugo says next time he and Grandma see a penny machine she is going to show him how to make his own souvenir penny!

Hugo, Grandpa and Grandma walked around the dyke this afternoon and stopped off at the boat to check on things and pick up a few pirate accessories for the big party tomorrow night.

It was a lovely sunny afternoon, warm in the sun but chilly in the shade. Grandma and Grandpa decided to stop at the clubhouse for lunch and a beer. How cruel is that? Hugo couldnt't have 'people lunch' and he was hungry. (Grandma did suggest he eat his lunch before they went out, but she neglected to tell him WHY.)
To make matters worse, he had to sit off the balcony, tied to the railing, where all the strangers with bags and big sticks were walking by.

Every single one of those strangers stopped to talk and wanted to put their hands in Hugo's face. Duh, couldn't they tell he was not a happy camper? He had to tell each one, in no uncertain terms, to back off and keep out of his space. One mean man had the audacity to touch even after Hugo growled a warning and that was the last straw. Hugo snapped at his hand - uh oh - Hugo knew he'd get in trouble for that.

That got Grandma's attention though, heheheheh... and they quickly walked home where Hugo could curl up on his sheepskin mat and have a rest after filling his tummy.

Gosh life is hard when you're a dog... and people just don't get it.

Hugo says Grandma is always trying to print photos of her favourite subject. Guess who? Yup, you got it pontiac - ME!

She says swears though and I have to cover my ears so I don't learn any bad words. For some reason the black ink runs out way too often. Do you think it's my fault because I'm a black dog? Am I a bad black doggie?

Cartridge Finder might put a smile on Grandma's face. If she found cartidges for her printer, copier and fax easily, online and at a good price, I'll bet she would be much happier when she prints my picture!

Hugo says Grandma found the site to be so user friendly and simple to find exactly the right cartridge for her printer. They have nearly every brand listed and links to the places from which she may order. The prices seem very reasonable. Grandma will be double bubble happy she can sit here to blog and take pics of her favourite subject while her order is shipped right to the house! (Actually, she is the subject - and I am the master - hehhehhehheh - she's learning).

Hugo says... Mmmmm, Chutney Smells Delicious

Hugo, Grandpa and Grandma made Chutney this afternoon and it smells great simmering on the stove!

Actually, Hugo says he didn't really help much - he just begged raisins and apple. The raisins were chewy and the apple was awfully sour so he chewed on his big stick for a while then needed a bit of a nap on Grandpa's lap.

Grandma will let the Chutney sit overnight in the pan, then reheat it and seal it in jars tomorrow. Then it has to age for ages. It's so good on a chicken sandwich or with a pork roast... mmmmmmmmmmmm... it's making my mouth water!

Here it is, simmering. Doesn't it look pretty with all those raisins, dates and apples bubbling in the brown sugar and vinegar? Grandma will share the recipe if you'd like to make it!

...YIKES... this roller coaster looks scary!

Blackpool Pleasure Beach Amusement Park is a cool place to visit and has some great spooky Halloween treats in store in 'Eerie October'.

Actually, in England, Halloween is commonly called 'All Hallows Eve' and Pleasure Beach in Blackpool is celebrating the whole month with special prices and special shows - all treats with no tricks!

...Grandma has been looking at modular homes to put on a lot in Arizona, near our friends, and in the SUN. It would be awfully nice to leave this rainy, dreary Fall and Winter behind to see the sun and blue skies every day! Grandma says she really misses the blue skies of Texas.

All the Snowbirds escape to Arizona for the winter months and with our Canadian dollar above par, it makes much sense to buy property in Arizona.

Modular homes have come a LONG way and are very attractive inside and out. The finishing inside is high quality, much higher than Grandma expected! The gourmet kitchen choice, the flooring and the floor plans available are amazing. Some homes have walk in closets and your square footage is determined only by the size of your lot and your wallet!

Kaia didn't like the orange shirt Grandma bought for her, so Grandma made me wear it. Everyone giggled and laughed at me and begged me to pose. Uh, uh, nope, no posing unless you give me that treat! I can be bought with treats, you know... ya, okay, the shirt is growing on me!

In my 'pinion the orange color sort of goes with the blood shot, old roue eyes I have going though - perhaps I should cultivate that look, mais non?

... my Grandpa just came home from moose hunting and he brought Grandma and I these fabulous photos.

In my 'pinion, this moose looks like my cousin. I'll bet he can run really fast with those long legs. I'd love to go play in the bush with him!

My Auntie Lise took these pictures - she's a good photographer huh? I'm so glad she only shoots the moose with her camera. They're my friends!

...Grandpa broke the chair in the office and has been searching the Furniture Home Office sites for the perfect replacement.

While he's at it, Grandma suggested this cool peninsula desk as well. It would fit so perfectly right in the corner and Grandpa could look out the window once in a while when he's working. The photo of the desk looks so attractive - our room would surely look just as lovely and organized, but still user friendly. Mmmmm... doesn't 'dark merlot' sound like a yummy color?

... it's always fun to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa on the boat. They have friends and family around all the time and we go boating to interesting places, like Lonetree Island to see the seals. Grandpa always honks the horn at them after we've taken pictures. They slither into the water, dive down then pop up their little 'doggy' looking heads to watch us!

Grandma and I love to play pirates. She doesn't care how goofy we look as long as we have fun. Grandpa says we act like a couple of yahoos!

Grandma set up a profile for me on Recruit'n so I can get a job now that I'm a big boy. It only took her two tries to submit the form as she didn't know my name had to be 6 letters or longer. I can't help it my Mommy and Daddy didn't give me a long name but we took care of that little glitch really easily.

So, now all she needs to do is copy and paste my resume into the simple screen which popped up and we're in business. The recruiters will be emailing me in no time with lots of job offers. I like this! I could get a job anywhere in the world - or in my own backyard. I'm a very good greeter and love working in customer service.

OH, MY!!! I submitted my profile just 3 minutes ago and I already have a contact on my page... Well, Grandma and I are going to surf around, view some of the jobs, perhaps post my blog so prospective employers may read more about my history. We could join the forum to see what's hot or even take a poll - whew there are 60 of them so that could keep us entertained for a while!

... Grandma, ya gotta get in tune with my body language!

Poor little Hugo does his best, but if people feed him the wrong food, someone is going to pay... luckily Grandma doesn't yell or get too mad - she just gives him the eye when he makes a mess on the floor.

Hugo's Mommy planned to leave Hugo with Grandma overnight and forgot to bring his 'new' food but decided he could eat the former 'bad' food for one night. Uh, oh! Big mistake - messy mistake - tummy aching mistake - gaseous mistake - hardwood floor and carpet cleaning mistake.

That bad food attacked Hugo within hours, leaving him with no option but the floor, not once but 5 times during the night while Grandma was sound asleep. No wonder he wanted to sleep during the day yesterday.

But, Grandma wanted to go for a car ride. Hugo normally is a very patient boy but he was nearly dancing on the way home. Now why didn't Grandma get it when he stood on the seat, trembling and looking at her. Stop, stop Grandma - stop the car right now - I have business to take care of...

Phew, luckily the ride home was short - Hugo leaped over Grandma and out the car door, then made a bee-line for the bark mulch.

Next time Grandma, listen to me when I try to tell you something is wrong! AND, don't change my diet - the vet knows what he's talking about - I have a hyper sensitive digestive tract.

... Grandpa and Great Grandpa went moose hunting at a lake, far away - two days drive. They left yesterday in the motorhome, towing the aluminum boat on a trailer and will be gone about 10 days.

This is what a moose looks like! What is Great Grandpa doing with that moose?

Hugo's cousins, Sean and Lee-Ann and their group of hunters came home with 3 moose and Uncle Graeme & Lise and their partners got 3 as well. Must be a good hunting season. Hopefully Grandpa and GG have good luck!
